El Terreno, the No 1 up-and-coming neighbourhood
Hilly El Terreno is a warren of steep streets lined with colourful cottages and luxury villas. This district provides for a true living-like-locals experience, like no other area in Palma. In the 1970's El Terreno was "THE" place to be for jet setters and globetrotters.
El Terreno was the hot spot of Mallorca.
After some of the old clubs closed down, the area lost a bit of its shine. But in the past ten years, El Terreno has gained much popularity again, since people got reminded of the fact that it is a prime location. The area has a unique charm where old meets new, luxury meets disrepair and beautiful mansions meet simple cottages.
It is in this same neighbourhood where the circular, medieval Bellver Castle, perches atop a pine-clad hill surrounded by wooded parkland - ideal for jogging or mountain biking. Only a 5 minutes walk away you will hit the famous Paseo Marítimo promenade, with terrace restaurants and alfresco tapas bars with views of the Bay of Palma.
